// FAQ

Honest answers to what clients actually ask.

If yours isn't here, just message me. I'm happy to answer directly.

Getting started

How do we start working together?

It begins with a free 20-minute strategy call. We talk about your business, your goals, and what you need. If it's a fit, I send a clear written proposal with scope, timeline, and price. Once you approve, we begin. No pressure on the call — even if we don't work together, you'll leave with useful direction.

Do I need to know exactly what I want beforehand?

Not at all. Most clients come with a problem ("I'm not getting enough leads") rather than a spec. My job is to translate that into the right solution. Come as you are — I'll guide you through the rest.

What information do you need from me to get started?

Your goals, any brand assets you have (logo, colors, content), and access to relevant accounts once we begin. If you don't have content or branding ready, I'll tell you exactly what's needed and can help you source or create it.

Pricing & payment

How much does a website cost?

It depends on scope — a landing page and a custom e-commerce platform are very different projects. Rather than a misleading one-size price, I give you a fixed, transparent quote after our strategy call. Use the free call for a realistic range for your project.

Do you charge fixed prices or hourly?

For most projects, a fixed price — so you know the full cost upfront with no surprises. For ongoing work, maintenance, or open-ended consulting, I offer monthly retainers or hourly rates.

How does payment work?

Typically a deposit to begin and the balance at completion, with milestone payments on larger projects. Everything is agreed in writing before we start.

Is the free strategy call really free?

Yes — genuinely free, no obligation, no hard pitch. Worst case, you walk away with a clearer understanding of what your website needs.

Working together

Will I work with you directly, or a team?

Directly with me. You talk to the person actually building your site — not an account manager relaying messages to an outsourced team you'll never meet. One point of contact, full accountability.

How do you keep me updated during the project?

Regular updates and a preview environment so you can watch progress. You'll always know the current status and the next step. No silence, no wondering.

What if I don’t like the design?

You review and approve the design before development begins, and revisions are built into the process. I'd rather refine it until you love it than build on a foundation you're unsure about.

How long does a website take?

A landing page might take one to two weeks; a business site three to five; a complex e-commerce or custom application longer. You'll get a realistic timeline in your proposal — and I stick to it.

Technical

Which platform should I use — WordPress, Shopify, or custom?

It depends on your goals. WordPress for flexible, content-rich sites; Shopify for focused e-commerce; custom React/Next.js for web apps and premium experiences. I'll recommend the right fit on our call and explain why in plain English — never just default to what's easiest for me.

Will my website be fast?

Yes — speed is non-negotiable in how I build. I target 90+ PageSpeed scores and passing Core Web Vitals as standard, because slow sites lose customers and rankings.

Will my website work on mobile?

Always. Every site I build is fully responsive and mobile-first, because that's where most of your traffic is. It'll look and work flawlessly on phones, tablets, and desktops.

Will my website be good for SEO?

I build with SEO fundamentals baked in — clean structure, semantic markup, fast load times, metadata, and schema. That gives you a strong foundation to rank. (Ongoing content and marketing still matter, and I can advise on those too.)

Can you fix or improve my existing website instead of rebuilding it?

Often, yes. I do speed optimization, redesigns, security/malware cleanup, and feature additions on existing sites. On our call, I'll tell you honestly whether fixing or rebuilding is the smarter investment.

Do I own my website and code?

Completely. Your code, your accounts, your data — all yours. No lock-in, no holding anything hostage. You're free to take it anywhere.

After launch

What happens after my site launches?

I make sure everything works live, then remain available. I don't disappear at launch. I offer maintenance plans for updates, security, backups, and support — or I can hand everything over cleanly if you prefer to manage it yourself.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance?

Yes — monthly retainers covering updates, security monitoring, backups, and small changes, so your site stays fast, secure, and current without you having to think about it.

What if something breaks after launch?

Anything caused by the original build, I fix. For issues beyond that, or ongoing peace of mind, a maintenance plan keeps you covered with priority support.
